BIDAR, HASSAN: Four people have been arrested for selling ganja and lakhs of rupees worth of the banned substance were seized from them in separate cases in the state.
At Vadgaon village in Aurad taluk of Bidar district, the Santapur police intercepted Aslam Mustafa and Jada Miyan based on specific information and seized Rs 7 lakh worth of ganja from them. The duo was transporting ganja from Telangana to Maharashtra through Bidar on a motorcycle when they were apprehended.
According to the police, the duo hail from Vadgaon and have been peddling ganja to Maharashtra for several years. They were produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody. A case has been registered at the Santapur police station and further investigation is under way.
In another incident, two men hailing from Assam were arrested when they were trying to sell ganja to migrant labourers at Ballupet village in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district. The arrested were identified as Mahtabuddin (27) and Jamaruddin (26).
The duo was nabbed when they were travelling from Ballupet to Jammanahalli based on specific information and 2 kg of ganja worth Rs 36,000 was seized from them. They were working as labourers at a coffee estate at Cheyandane village in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district. A case has been registered at the Sakleshpur Rural police station.
