KOPPAL: A 39-year-old woman has alleged that she was gangraped by four men, including an acquaintance, over a dispute of Rs 5,000 Yelaburga taluk after being lured to a deserted house in Madlur village in Yelburga taluk on the pretext of returning the money, on Sunday evening.

The woman, a resident of Hosapete, had lent Rs 5,000 to one of the accused, Lakshman, who promised to return the money. When she demanded the money back, Lakshman asked her to come to Kushtagi from where he picked her up on a motorcycle and took her to a deserted house in Madlur village. There, he and three others allegedly gangraped her after spiking some juice which was given to her, Koppal SP Ram L Arasiddi said.

On Sunday evening, the emergency number 112 received a call about the woman who was found in a semi-conscious state and admitted to a hospital by some locals. After she recovered, the victim lodged a complaint with the police following which the four accused — Laxman, Basavaraj, Bheemappa and Shashikumar, — were arrested, the SP said.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Koppal District Hospital. The SP stated that three teams were formed and all the four were arrested. The investigation is ongoing and legal action will be taken against the accused after questioning them, he added.
