DAVANAGERE: Four men were arrested by the Basavapatna police in Channagiri taluk for circulating fake currency notes and notes with a face value of Rs 3.75 lakh, along with printers and other material, were seized from them.
The arrested are Santosh Kumar (32), Veeresh (37) and Hanumanthappa (35) of Naduvina thanda in Hoovinahadagali taluk, and Kuberappa (60) of Davanaagere. They were allegedly circulating fake notes near a bar in Chiradone village.
Based on specific information, the Basavapatna police nabbed the accused. The arrested have prior cases of circulating fake notes registered against them, police said. Superintendent of Police Uma Prashant has appreciated the action by the Basavapatna police in busting the racket.
