MANDYA: The Maddur police have arrested former municipal council president M K Marigowda in a case of robbery at a house in the town. The accused was arrested based on CCTV footage.
The robbery occurred on August 26 and the accused, who was disguised, entered the house of Gas Chandru on Doddi Beedhi in Maddur, and robbed gold ornaments after threatening Chandru’s wife Susheelamma. Following the robbery, a case was registered at Maddur police station.
The case was delayed due to Ganesha festival celebrations and the tensions that followed. After the festival, a special team was formed by the SP to investigate the case. The accused was arrested based on CCTV footage.
The accused had pawned the stolen ornaments. The police have seized 50 grams of gold ornaments and a diamond-studded ear stud. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
