Former MLA’s son-in-law attacked in Kadur over not allowing vehicle to pass

CHIKKAMAGALUR: The son-in-law of former MLA Belli Prakash was attacked by a group of five youths at Basaveshwara Circle in Kadur town on Sunday over a trivial issue. Following the attack, the former MLA and his supporters staged a protest past midnight in front of the Kadur police station.

Sandesh, the son-in-law of the former MLA, was returning to Kadur from Bengaluru when a dispute arose with a group of youths over allowing their vehicle to pass. The situation escalated, and the youths allegedly assaulted Sandesh. Upon learning about the incident, former MLA Belli Prakash and about 500 of his supporters staged a protest in front of the Kadur police station, demanding action against the perpetrators.

The police have registered a case against five youths, including one Santosh, in connection with the attack. The BJP leaders and workers have alleged that the accused youths are associates of sitting MLA K S Anand. The police have assured that action will be taken based on the evidence.

Chikkamagaluru Police Superintendent Dr Vikram Amate said, “A case has been registered based on the complaint from Sandesh. He was attacked around 8.30 and 9 pm over the issue of overtaking. We have formed a team and will apprehend the culprits and take appropriate action”.
