BENGALURU: Former Primary Education Minister B C Nagesh has vented ire over the Congress government’s decision over revision of syllabus and said, “The government is revising the syllabus to fulfill the guarantee given to a certain community”.
“What is the urgency for revising the syllabus now? The government is plan to include bits on Tipu Sultan in the textbook again. During the BJP period, we were added chapters on patriotism and the great empires”, he added.
“We have rectified the mistakes made by the Baraguru Ramachandrappa committee. He had insulted the National Anthem. Now, the Congress is going to remove some portions in the textbook”, said Nagesh condemning the Congress decision.
Nagesh further said, “We will fight if they revise the textbook as per their whims, we will take the matter to the people. Four unemployed, self-proclaimed intellectuals are revising the syllabus in a hurry. We will hold a meeting with education experts and former ministers, and will take decision over holding protest. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to revise the syllabus after paying heed to those intellectuals who have put pressure on him saying that the revision should be done this academic year itself”.
“Madhu Bangarappa should focus on bringing some improvements in education, recruitment of teachers and providing quality education. What the government plans to do now is not right”, Nagesh added.
