Former Kadur tahsildar arrested again for creating fake documents of tiger reserve land

CHIKKAMAGALUR: The previous tahsildar of the Kadur taluk, Umesh, who was released from jail in a case related to irregularities in revenue land, has again been arrested by the Forest Department for issuing khatas of land belonging to a tiger reserve in the name of private parties.

Umesh has been accused of issuing khatas of land reserved for a tiger reserve around Yemmedoddi, Ayyanakere and Madagadakere by creating fake documents. According to a Forest Department report, he created fake documents for thousands of acres of land in the tiger reserve.

Umesh was recently arrested in connection with a case related to creating fake documents of revenue land in Uluganaru of Kadur taluk and had come out from jail on bail on Thursday. He was arrested again on Friday and is being questioned by Chikkamagalur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ramesh Babu.

After his transfer from Kadur, Umesh was posted at special land acquisiton officer at the Seabird naval base. He as arrested by the police last week from Peenya in Bengaluru.
