Former Congress MLA and son assault man over property dispute in KR Pet

MANDYA: A former Congress MLA and his son have been accused of attacking and threatening to kill a man in K R Pet. The accused are former MLA K B Chandrashekar and his son Srikanth, who allegedly assaulted Srinivas over a land dispute.

The dispute is over a 1.14 acroe plot worth crores of rupees, which the accused claim that it belongs to them. The former MLA and hsi son claimed that Srinivas’ grandfather Krishnashetty had mortgaged the 1.14 acres of land land to Chandrashekar’s father in 1964 for Rs 100. When Srinivas asked for documents to claim the land legally, the accused allegedly used abusive language and threatened him.

A video of the assault and threats was recorded on a mobile phone and has been widely hared on social media. Srikanth, who has been involved in a murder case and was released on bail, is said to be involved in the incident. Despite filing a complaint at K.R. Pet police station, no case has been registered yet.
