BENGALURU: Former corporator of the Yelachenahalli BBMP ward (No. 185), V Balakrishna, has been arrested by the Kaggalipura police of Ramanagara district for assaulting an on-duty police inspector.
Balakrishna had visited the police station on Thursday in connection with a land dispute when he got into a verbal altercation with Inspector Vijay Kumar. He later caught hold of the officer’s collar and assaulted him.
Balakrishna was immediately arrested by the police based on a complaint lodged by the officer. A case was registered against him under IPC Sections 353 and 332 for assaulting an officer on duty and for obstructing a government servant from discharging his duties.
He was taken for a medical test and is expected to be produced before court today. The police are also likely to seek his custody for further investigation.
