CHIKKAMAGALUR: Some Forest department staff, who were videographing a leopard which had been trapped in a cage, with the door open, had a lucky escape after the scared animal charged at them. Luckily, the staffers shut the cage door just in time.
The cage had been placed near the house of one Thimmanna of Narayanapura villa in Ajjampura taluk three days ago after movement of a leopard was spotted. The animal got caught in the cage on Friday night.
While the frightened leopard was at one end of the cage, the forest staff opened the door at the other end and were filming the leopard. Suddenly, the animal charged at them, but the staff slammed the door shut just in time. The actions of the Forest department staff have come in for widespread criticism for risking their lives with a wild animal.
