BENGALURU: The Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), which recently got into an unwanted controversy by appointing Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia as its brand ambassador, has raked in record profits.

For the first time in its 108-year history, the government-owned company has made a record profit by selling products worth Rs 186 crore in May.

KSDL has set a new record by achieving such a huge turnover in just one month. The company had set a target of Rs 151.50 crores for May, but it exceeded expectations.

All 45 products, including Mysore Sandal Soap, were sold extensively through branches in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, and New Delhi, as well as through the direct market division in Bengaluru.
