The accused car driver Vinayak is a sales executive with a private company. He had gone to a party with his friend Sagar and three women during the weekend and was driving in a drunken state.

Vinayak was supposed to drop off one of his friends, Sagar, around 1.45 am. At that time, Vinayak hit the bike of the delivery agent, who was flung about 50 metres away from the accident spot due to the impact. The car also dragged the bike for some distance.

Vinayak, however, sped away without stopping, but some locals chased the car and caught them. Some enraged witnesses assaulted the car driver, who was drunk and smashed the car. The accident was captured on a CCTV camera. Vinayak sent the three women who were with him in an autorickshaw.

Sources said that the company where Vinayak worked had given incentives to its employees and hence, Vinayak went partying with his friends. The Byatarayanpura traffic police have taken the car driver, Vinayak, into custody and it was confirmed that Vinayak was driving under the influence of alcohol.
