The Kempegowda International Airport has issued a set of guidelines for travellers on Saturday.

BENGALURU: As Covid-19 cases surge in China, the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has on Saturday come out with certain guidelines for air travellers.

Accordingly, all passengers coming to the airport will have to undergo thermal scan and 2 per cent of passengers will be subjected to random testing. They can exit the airport only after giving swab samples. Travellers showing any symptoms will have to be immediately isolated.

The statement said children aged below 12 years will not have to undergo compulsory testing, but only if they are showing any symptoms. Air travellers with no symptoms whatsoever have been advised to exercise caution and take precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, Namma Metro and BMTC too have made face masks and social distancing compulsory for travellers. Passengers arriving at Metro stations without masks will not be allowed entry. The BMTC too has insisted that its staff and passengers wear masks compulsorily.

In view of the Christmas celebrations, the St Mary’s Basilica at Shivajinagar has said that wearing mask and maintaining social distance will be compulsory for those visiting the church for prayers and participating in the Christmas Eve mass.

St Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar has asked devotees to wear masks and maintain social distance.

“We have made all preparations and decorations for the celebration and mass will be held in Kannada, Tamil and English. We will make announcements during prayers also about following Covid-appropriate behaviour”, said Father Martin Kumar.

Hotels and restaurants too have advised their staff to wear masks and use sanitisers. The street vendors’ association too has instructed its members to wear masks compulsorily.
