BENGALURU: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for different parts of the state in view of Cyclone Mandous. The city witnessed record rainfall and lowest minimum temperature over the weekend and normal life was affected.
Due to the continuous rain as a result of the cyclonic effect during the weekend, citizens chose to stay indoors. Shopping malls, BMTC and KSRTC buses, hotels and streets appeared to be empty due to the incessant rain.
The IMD has warned that the cold and foggy weather with incessant rain will continue for the next three days. It has also issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru City and Rural districts, apart from Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara and Tumakur districts. The wind speed will be 65-75 kmph and there will be rain until December 13.
The weather department said that for the week from December 11 to 16, the minimum temperature will be 18-19 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 25-28 degrees Celsius. Doctors have cautioned people to be more careful due to the sudden change in weather. The number of children coming to the OPD has increased since the last three days. Many people have been suffering from flu symptoms over the last few days.
