BENGALURU: Flexes, banners and hoardings will completely banned in Bengaluru after August 15 and violators will be fined Rs 50,00, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has warned.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he said, “When I look around, I feel disgusted. Banners and flexes will be completely banned. No one should use. If they put it in someone’s name, we will fine them Rs 50,000 and an FIR will be registered. I thought, I should make the announcement when I took the charge of Bengaluru city, but I got delayed for some reasons. We can have a separate policy on flexes and banners and decide what can be done”, he said.
“No one, including me, should put up flexes and all existing flexes and banners should be removed. There is also a High Court order on this. Flexes and banners will be completely cleared in Bengaluru and hoardings should also be removed. I told the ministers and the MLAs too and birthday wishes, death anniversary flexes, good wishes, are banned. Hoardings will also be penalised”, Deputy CM strictly warned.
“Efforts have been made to ease traffic problems and suggestions have come from everyone, including schoolchildren. We met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi recently and discussed about the Yeshwantpur, Kolar, Mysuru and Hoskote highways. The traffic problem has increased and there is an increase in the number of vehicles too. The Union Minister has given suggestions about tunnel roads and flyovers and told us to come with a master plan”, the Deputy CM said.
