CHIKKABALLAPUR: Five vehicles were involved in a serial accident on National Highway-44 near Agalagurki village on the outskirts here when a truck driver suddenly slammed the brakes on spotting a snake slithering across the road. The condition of the driver of one of the vehicles is said to be serious.

Five vehicles were involved in the serial accident after a container truck driver hit the brakes on spotting a snake on the highway.

Two container trucks, a light commercial vehicle (Tata Ace), two cars and a tipper truck carrying boulders were involved in the pile-up. The Tata Ace driver suffered serious injuries and his condition is said to be critical.

Locals took the Chikkaballapur traffic police to task, who were conducting checks on vehicles on the highway, blaming them for the accident. They alleged that the accident had occurred due to checking being conducted by the traffic police on the highway.
