Five two-wheeler riders die in separate accidents; one has lucky escape

BENGALURU: Five people, including a couple, who were riding on two-wheelers died after colliding with other vehicles in different parts of the state. One person miraculously escaped after being hit by an SUV.

A couple, identified as Subbaramappa (60) and Gayathramma (40) died after their moped collided with a car near Nayindrahalli Gate in Chintamani taluk on Wednesday. They were on their way to attend the death ceremony of a relative.

It is said that carelessness of the moped rider was the cause of the accident. The Chintamani Rural police visited the spot and registered a case.

A scooterist escaped death by a whisker after a speeding SUV knocked him down, crushing his two-wheeler against the road median and flinging it in the air in a bid to overtake another car, on Belur Road in Chikkamagalur on Monday.

Footage from CCTV shows the SUV knocking the scooterist, but he luckily survived.

The incident occurred in Chikkamagaluru Town police limits and was caught on CCTV camera. The two-wheeler was badly damaged, but the rider luckily survived.

Two people died on the spot after the motorcycle they were travelling on hit a MPV on National Highway-150(A) near Bommakkanahalli in Molkalmuru taluk of Chitradurga district on Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Maranna (45) and Shankar (44) of Konapura village. The Rampura police visited the spot and have registered a case.

A motorcycle rider, Bhuvan (19), died after colliding with a tanker at Lakshmipura village in KR Pet taluk of Mandya district on Wednesday. A seriously injured Bhuvan was shifted to a hospital, but did not survive. The Kikkeri police have registered a case.
