BELAGAVI: Five people travelling in a car died on the spot after the vehicle crashed into a sugarcane harvester machine near Bilebavi Cross in Talikote taluk of Vijayapura district on Friday. Among the dead include one woman.
The deceased were residents of Aliabad in Vijayapura taluk and were on their way from Hunasagi towards Talikote when the accident occurred. It is said that they were on their way to Aski village to see a prospective bride.
The deceased were identified as Ningappa Patil (55), Shantappa Patil (45), Bhimashi Sankanala (65), Shashikala (50) and Dilip Patil (45). The front portion of the car was completely crushed due to the impact of the collision. The Talikote police visited the spot and have registered a case.
