BENGALURU: The Chandra Layout police arrested five youths, including a minor boy, in connection with the moral policing incident in the locality. The arrested accused are Maheem, Afridi, Waseem, Anjum and a minor.
A video of Muslim youths harassing and assaulting a Hindu youth and a Muslim girl had gone viral on social media.
The girl was sitting facing her friend on a two-wheeler when the group of youths surrounded the duo and took them to task using abusive language and physically assaulted her friend. The youths can be heard questioning why she was sitting there instead of going to college. They also forced her to give the parents’ contact number. One among the group was holding a bat while talking to the Hindu youth.
The girl tried to defend herself and protect the Hindu youth, but the gang did not allow them to speak out. One of the youths also recorded and shared a video of the incident online. The authorities concerned are currently investigating the incident.
