RAICHUR: Five members of a family from Kolar district, including two children, were killed in a road accident early Saturday morning at Kotekal village in Emmiganur taluk of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh. The information was confirmed by Yemmiganuru Rural police station Sub-Inspector Srinivas.
According to Srinivas, the victims — two men, one woman and two children — were travelling from Chikkahosalli village in Kolar toward the Raghavendra Swamy temple in Mantralayam when their car collided head-on with another car. “All five occupants of the car died on the spot due to the severe impact”, he said.
The deceased were identified as Venkateshappa (76), Satish Kumar (34), his wife Meenakshi (26) and two children Banit Gowda (6) Ritwik (40). While Venkateshapp and Gangamm are from Chikka Hosalli in Bangarpet taluk, Satish and Meenakshi were from Nootave village in Malur taluk.
The occupants of the other car sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the cause of the collision. (With Agency inputs)
