KARWAR: A search was launched by boatmen after a fisherman, who had set out into the Arabian Sea for fishing in a purse seine boat, was reported missing after the boat likely capsized due to strong winds and waves. The fisherman was identified as Manjunath (55).
The fisherman, a resident of Malkod Mannekeri in Honnavar, had set out from the Mavinkurve fishing harbour. The boat, ‘Sri Sagar’, is owned by Imtiaz Abdul Haladi of Koteshwara in Udupi.
However, no case had been registered at the Bhatkal Rural police station with regarding to the fisherman going missing. In the meantime, other local fishermen were continuing a search for Manjunath.
