KALABURAGI: A puppy, which had been dropped into an unsealed borewell at Manikeshwara Colony here, was rescued safely by the Fire and Emergency Services personnel on Friday night.

A boy, who was playing, had dropped the puppy into an open borewell. Hearing the puppy’s screams, locals informed the fire services who immediately rushed to the spot. They had earlier tried to rescue the puppy, but could not.

The borewell on vacant land had not been capped.

The puppy had fallen about 25 feet into the borewell. The firemen first lowered a rope and managed to get the noose around the puppy’s neck. They then slowly pulled up the puppy and set it free. Their action was lauded by the locals.
