BENGALURU: The Director General of Police (DGP), Fire and Emergency Services, has assigned a new task to firefighters and Civil Defence personnel on sensitising people to how to deal with risky situations.
They have been instructed to visit homes and create awareness among people about war sirens and fake sirens to dispel panic among the public.
Each Civil Defence personnel has been tasked with visiting 100 to 200 people weekly to raise awareness about the difference between actual and fake war sirens. They have also been asked to instruct the people they visit to spread this information to others.
This move comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with a potential war looming. The objective is to prepare the public for any situation that may arise and ensure they know how to react during a war.
