Firecracker dare claims life of 32-year-old man in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A firecracker dare claimed the life of a 32-year-old man in Konanakunte last Thursday. The victim’s friends had promised to buy him an autorickshaw if he won the challenge of sitting on a box of bursting crackers.

The victim has been identified as Shabarish (32). The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

Shabarish’s friends had dared him to sit on a box filled with high-intensity firecrackers and they ignited the crackers. He lost his life when the box of firecrackers exploded under him. As the crackers started bursting, everyone ran away.

 

Shabarish suffered severe injuries in his back and was rushed to Victoria Hospital on October 31 night. Despite treatment, he succumbed to his injuries two days later. A case has been filed at the Konanakunte police station and six accused, including Naveen, Dinesh, Sathya Velu, Karthik, Satish and Santosh have been arrested and are being questioned.

The reckless act of bursting crackers has ended a man’s life, a tragic reminder of the dangers of such pranks.
