Fire services officer caught by Lokayukta police while accepting bribe

DAVANAGERE: The station house officer of the Harihar fire station was trapped by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe from a theatre owner to issue a fire safety no-objection certificate to a theatre owner.

The Fire and Emergency Services officer Suhas had demanded Rs 8,000 from Arun, the owner of Jyothi Theatre in Malebennur, to issue a fire safety NoC. They had finally settled for Rs 5,000.

After the theatre owner lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police, Suhas was nabbed with receiving the bribe of Rs 5,000 by a team led by Lokayukta SP Kaulapure, Deputy SP Ramakrishna, inspector Rashtrapati and others.
