BENGALURU: A major fire broke out at a godown on Ullal Main Road in the city, were centring material was stored, around 11:30 pm on Friday and lakhs of rupees worth of materials were gutted.
It is suspected that miscreants may have set the fire to the godown under the influence of alcohol. A Tata Ace goods vehicle was also gutted in the fire. According to witnesses, the owner had left for home around 7.30 pm after closing the godown, and the fire is believed to have been set by miscreants later on.
On receiving information about the fire, the police and fire tenders reached the spot and doused the blaze. Six fire tenders were deployed, and it took them around 5-6 hours to extinguish the fire, which had spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable materials.
The Jnanabharathi police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the fire.
