BENGALURU: An FIR has been registered against some individuals who allegedly disrespected the national flag at a programme attended by Jayanagar MLA. The incident involved A Krishnappa and others wiping their hands with the Tricolour, which was captured on video and went viral on social media.
The police filed a suo motu and registered a case against the accused. However, Krishnappa approached the High Court seeking quashing of the FIR, claiming that he had no intention of disrespecting the national flag.
Senior advocate Vivek Subba Reddy argued on behalf of Krishnappa. The High Court issued notices to the Tilak Nagar police and the complainant Manjunath, and granted an interim stay on filing charges.
