YADGIR: Following Yadgir police Sub-Inspector Parashuram’s death, an FIR has been registered against MLA Chennareddy and son Pampanagowda a.k.a Sunny at the Yadgir Town police station based on the complaint lodged by the PSI’s wife Shweta, along with her family members.

The case has been registered under Sections 108(3,5) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Shweta has directly accused the MLA and his son in her complaint that they were continuously pressuring him for money for getting a transfer.

Dalit organisations had staged a massive protest demanding the arrest of MLA and his son. Parashuram’s wife Shweta has alleged that MLA Channareddy Patil had demanded Rs 30-40 lakh from her husband to get a transfer to Yadgir station. “He had told me that the MLA and his son had demanded a large sum of money”, he said and demanded their arrest.

“As a police officer, even those who wear the uniform are not supporting us. Someone is supporting the MLA, they are giving them money, and yet they are supporting them”, Shweta rued.

Further she said, “If he had made a mistake, he should have been suspended. Why did you suspend him, is it because of his caste? Is caste system prevalent even in this generation? Did we ask God to be born in Scheduled Caste? The MLA has done wrong. My husband’s life is gone for caste and money. You have lost a sincere officer. There is no humanity in the police department. I was 8 months pregnant, and there is no justice for the police officer. Where will the general public get justice?” she asked.

After the FIR was registered, MLA Chennareddy and his son Pampangaouda switched off their mobile phones and absconding.
