FIR registered against 40-50 people for laying siege to Chamarajpet police station on Sankranti

BENGALURU: An FIR has been filed at the Chamarajpet police station in the city against 40-50 people who for laying siege to the station on Sankranti day as part of a protest.

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by the Chamarajpet PSI against protesters, including Tipu Nagar Masjid president Mehboob Khan and others. The protesters, including Mehboob Khan, were demanding action against drug peddlers in the area.

The protesters, including the masjid committee president and others, have been booked for obstructing police duty. On the day of Sankranti festival, hundreds of people gathered at the Chamarajpet police station and protested against the police, alleging inaction against drug peddlers in the area.

Residents of Tipu Nagar alleged that drug peddlers were creating a nuisance in the area, and women were afraid to venture out. Hence, they requested taking stringent action against those peddlers. The protesters, including women, gheraoed the police station, demanding action against the drug peddlers, following which an FIR was filed against them.
