BENGALURU: Two days after a farmer from Haveri disrict was denied entry into GT World Mall on Magadi Road for wearing a dhoti, an FIR has been registered against the mall management at the KP Agrahara police station. The FIR follows a complaint from one Dharmegowda.

On Tuesday evening, Fakirappa, hailing from Aremallapura in Haveri district, had accompanied his son Nagaraj to watch a movie, but was initially denied entry citing dress code.

The farmer, who was acccompanied by his son, was denied entry as he was wearing a dhoti.

Fakirappa and Nagaraj were made to wait outside the mall for over half an hour. After outrage by YouTubers who were making videos, the father-son duo were finally allowed inside.

On Wednesday morning, a representative of the mall management, Suresh, felicitated Fakirappa with a shawl and garland. The security guard Arun, who had denied entry to the farmer, was also suspended.

The complaint has sought action against mall security staffer Arun and the mall management under Section 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
