FIR filed against 3 for assaulting Bajrang Dal activists in Sindhanur

RAICHUR: The Sindhanur Town police have registered an FIR against three people in connection with Tuesday’s attack on Bajrang Dal activists who had attempted to stop alleged illegal transportation of cattle.

Those named in the FIR are Arjun Sab, Noor and Maibu — they allegedly attacked more than 10 people and are now absconding. Bajrang Dal taluk convenor Manohar Hiremath, who was seriously injured, was shifted to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) while the other injured are being treated at the Sindhanur taluk hospital.

The activists claimed that during the confrontation, the attackers took away two gold chains, mobile phones and a two-wheeler. The Sindhanur Town police have taken up further investigation.

Bajrang Dal taluk convenor Manohar Hiremath, speaking from his hospital bed, said, “We had informed the police about the illegal cattle transportation and when we went to National Layout, about 100-150 Muslims attacked us with sticks, wooden logs and stones.When I went there, they saw the kumkum on my forehead and shouted, ‘Woh bhi Hindu hai, unko maro, maro’. They threw a stone on my chest and tried to kill me”.

“Hindus are in danger in Sindhanur. The police should take appropriate action against the accused. About 7-8 of our activists were also injured”, he added.
