KOPPAL: An FIR was registered against Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi at the Karatagi police station for making provocative statements. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Taluk Scheduled Caste Welfare Officer Gyanana Gowda while he was performing his duty as an Election Officer.
On March 24, a meeting of Congress workers was organised at the home office premises of Minister Shivraj Thangadagi in Karatagi town of Koppal. Speaking at the meeting, Minister Shivaraj Thangadagi, provoking the Congress workers in his speech, said ‘youths who shout ‘Modi’s’ name should be slapped’.

According to the complaint, the minister’s words are a punishable offence, and action should be taken against him. In his complaint, Gyanana Gowda said that he lodged the complaint a little late as he brought this to the attention of his superiors and waited to get instructions from them.
