KALABURAGI: The Afzalpur police have registered an FIR against spiritual leader Marularadhya Shivacharya Swami for making a provocative speech during a campaign to seek the disbanding of the waqf board.
Addressing an event at the Basaveshwara Circle in Afzalpur on Sunday, Marularadhya Shivacharya said, “They say they are ready to give up their lives and even take lives. They claim that all the youths in Afzalpur have swords at their houses and say they are ready to chop anyone who comes in their way. Let us stop giving pens in the hands of our youths and let us give swords instead”.
Following his provocative speech, the police have filed an FIR against Marularadhya Shivacharya for provoking religious sentiments under BNS Sections 299 and 353/2.
