BENGALURU: An FIR has been registered against Southeast CEN Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Govardhan and his colleague Ashwini at the High Grounds police station after his wife Amrutha lodged a complaint that he was having an affair with the woman officer.

The ACP’s wife has alleged in her complaint that he had been keeping away from the family ever since his promotion to Deputy SP rank and that he was having an affair with his batchmate. When she tried to question him about the relationship, he tried to kill her, Amrutha said in her complaint. She had also attached a copy of their chats along with her complaint.

The complainant’s lawyer Greeshma said, “The complaint names Govardhan, his mother and Ashwini. Govardhan and Amrutha got married in 2008 and they have a eight-year-old child. Govardhan was earlier working as a doctor and later joined the police force”.

Further, she said, “Ashiwini is an ACP with the cyber crime division in Karwar while Govardhan is posted in Bengaluru. She keeps calling and messaging him regularly and when my client questioned this, he started torturing her. On January 7, he even assaulted her. Amrutha faces a threat to her life. The FIR was registered on Wednesday night and the police have taken up investigation”.
