CHAMARAJANAGAR: A day after an accused in a kidnap case died after he jumped out of a police jeep, an FIR has been registered against three police personnel. Those booked include Circle Police Inspector Shivamadaiah, Sub-Inspector Madegowda and constable Somanna.

The FIR follows a complaint from the deceased Ningaraju’s mother Mahadevamma with the Yelandur police alleging that the police personnel who were taking him for questioning were responsible for his death. On Tuesday, villagers had also staged a protest in front of the Yelandur police station demanding action into the suspicious death.

Ningaraju (24), a resident of Kunthur Mole village, was picked up on Tuesday for questioning in the kidnap of a minor girl. When he was being taken to the police station, he jumped off the jeep and sustained injuries. He was taken to the Yelandur taluk hospital, but did not respond to treatment.

Chamarajnagar SP Shivakumar assured that a fair probe will be conducted into the incident.
