BENGALURU: With the FIFA World Cup football fever peaking in the city, students of the Charans PU College organised an inter-collegiate football tournament and came up with an anthem similar to FIFA anthem.

Charans PU college organised a football tournament to encourage students.

The anthem is a rap song in Kannada created for the football tournament. Indian football legend Narayanaswamy Ulaghanathan also took part in the inauguration of the football tournament held at the BBMP ground near Domlur in the city.

“I am studying at Charans PU College. They have organised a football tournament for the first time to encourage us. I used to play near the house. I got to play it for the first time in this tournament, and I was able to show off my talent. I thank my college principal for giving me this opportunity to play in this tournament”, said Yuvaraj, a football player.

“I am very happy to see colleges supporting young generations to play football. The government should support football players and encourage them to play more in the coming days. If players are enrolled now, they might play at the national and international level. Cricket is given more importance and football is not encouraged much because of injuries. Even parents should encourage their children to play football”, said Narayanaswami Ulaganathan, an Indian former football player.
