The farmers Raghu said he was grazing cattle around 5.45 pm on Sunday when the leopard first attacked the cow. When he rushed to its rescue, the leopard pounced on him. “I turned my face away and kicked it. When it again came at me, I hit it with stones and sticks. By that time, some people arrived on a tractor and raised an alarm and the leopard ran away”, he said.

Villagers say the leopard has been active in the region for the last one week and has been attacking dogs. This has created a sense of fear among locals who have demanded the Forest Department to relocate the leopard and help protect their cattle.
