MYSURU: A family from Rampura in the district has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah requesting permission for euthanasia or mercy killing, alleging that the villagers were trying to get them to vacate their land where they have been living for 90 years.

“This is the place where our ancestors were living, and if necessary, we are ready to die on this land. The entire family has applied to the tahsildar seeking euthanasia”, they said. Jyothi, a woman from the family, said, “We have lived in this place since our childhood. Our family has lived on this kahrab farm for almost 90 years. The villagers are now conspiring to get us to vacate the land”.

A temple has already been constructed in one acre on Survey No. 39. The villagers have decided to build a community hall in the remaining 18 guntas of the land where the family is living.

“We are making a living by growing crops on the remaining 18 guntas of land. We got permission to build a Janata House on the same site. The villagers have planned to build a community hall and kitchen in this place and are harassing us”, Jyothi said.
