HASSAN: Four members of a family survived with injuries after the car they were travelling in plunged into a stream from a height of 80 feet as the driver lost control near Marahalli village in Sakleshpur taluk on Friday.

Govinda Nayak, a teacher at Kadaba, was travelling with his wife and two children in their car (KA-03-MS 0942) to drop off their son Ashik at the Navodaya school at Guruvahinakere. Nayak lost control of the car near Maranahalli and the vehicle plunged into a gorge and fell into the Kempu Hole stream.


Locals rushed to their rescue and pulled them out of the vehicle. The injured wife of Govinda Nayak was taken to the Sakleshpur hospital in an ambulance. Locals pointed out that there are no crash barriers at the spot which resulted in the accident. The Sakleshpur Rural police visited the spot.
