Family and fans celebrate 72nd birth anniversary of late actor ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh

BENGALURU: Family members and fans of late actor ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh celebrated his 72nd birth anniversary at his memorial at the Kanteerava Studios here on Wednesday.

Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, son Abhishek Ambareesh and his wife Aviva Bidappa performed puja at Ambareesh’s grave. After them, fans also offered prayer. Following the puja, Ambareesh’s family placed as offering his favouirte home-made dishes, including non-vegetarian items, on the grave.

Kannada film actor, producer and distributor Rockline Venkatesh, who is Ambareesh’s close friend, was also present. Fans also gathered to celebrate the day and cut cakes in memory of the late actor.

Various programmes have been organised in Mandya on the occasion of Ambareesh’s birthday. A talent award ceremony and a programme to honour achievers in various fields have been organised.

Actress and Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh said, “He is not just in our minds, but also in the minds of the fans. They are celebrating his birthday even after six years. People will always remember him for his good deeds. We are happy seeing their love and affection for him”.

“This year, we are honouring four people in Mandya to mark Ambareesh’s birthday. We honored three people last year. We want to do more social service in his name. Fans named him ‘Karna of Kali Yuga’. We should cherish his social services and take them forward.”

Recounting their lives, she said, “I gave a heart-shaped pendent to Ambi, he liked it very much, and he gave me a gift that he lived with me for so many years. That was the biggest gift for me. I was inspired by him, and I liked seeing his qualities. We missed him a lot in his friends’ circle and relatives’ circle. We cooked his favourite dishes and brought them to him on the day of his birthday”.
