MYSURU, CHIKKAMAGALUR: With the war raging in Israel, families of Indians who are stuck there are worried for their safety. Many are in regular touch with their family members giving regular updates about the situation prevailing in Israel.
Chetan, a native of Devanur in Nanjangud taluk, who is currently in Rehovot, has been making video calls to his family members to assure them that they are safe. Chetan, his wife Shilpashri and their one-and-half-year-old child went to Israel two years ago after he took up higher studies in Chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot.
Chetan informed his family members that the institute is also keeping a check on them and added that whenever the siren is sounded, they take shelter in the safe room. His sister Lavanya said, “We are a bit worried here, but he himself is filling us with courage”.
Mary, who hails from Kottigehara in Chikkamagalur district, informed her husband Anil that they are safe and even shared a video of people shopping at a supermarket for the week’s needs.
Mary, who went to Israel two years ago and is working as a home nurse in Tel Aviv, said that on Tuesday evening, citizens were allowed to go to supermarkets and shop for the weekly essentials. She speaks to her husband every evening for a couple of minutes and said the authorities have instructed them to take shelter whenever the siren is sounded.
