The students have sought Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's intervention to improve facilities in the school.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Students of the government lower primary school at Anchipalya in Hanur taluk sit through classes in a precarious condition as parts of the ceiling keep falling off. The children have now appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to order repairs on the school building.

The ceiling inside the classrooms have come off at several places and the walls get damp when it rains. The school has no toilet, furniture or sporting equipment and the walls have cracked. Villagers say despite several complaints, the Education department has done little to remedy the situation.

“We can’t sit on the floor when it rains and hence we need chairs and desks. The walls are cracked and there is no toilet and we face difficulty as we have to cross the road. We appeal to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to send some officials to inspect the condition and carry out repairs”, said Kanishka, a student.

“The school has no playground and children face danger from traffic when they have to cross the road. The government should make arrangements for a playground”, said a parent. “There are no facilities in the school, no water, toilets or furniture. The school building is damaged and the authorities have done nothing”, said Meghala, another parent.
