TUMAKURU: Expelled JD(S) MLA from Gubbi constituency, S R Srinivas, has decided to formally resign from the party on Monday (March 27).

Speaking to reporters, Srinivas said, “I will join the Congress after my resignation is accepted by the party. Deve Gowda treated me like a son. I worked under his and his son Kumaraswamy’s leadership. Deve Gowda gave a lot of support and encouragement like a son. Kumaraswamy has also taken care of me like a brother, but  I don’t know why I was expelled. I am resigning from the party with a heavy heart”.

“In October 2021, H D Kumaraswamy announced a fresh candidate for Gubbi. Since then, the distance between me and Kumaraswamy has grown. They blamed me for no reason. They pointed at me saying that I was the main reason for Deve Gowda’s defeat. But I never betrayed the  party”, said S R Srinivas.

He further added, “I had an emotional connection with Kumaraswamy. But he officially announced a fresh candidate for Gubbi Assembly constituency though I was not ready to leave the party. They accused me of cross voting, then expelled me from the party. I would like to thank all the MLAs of the JD(S) party who have cooperated with me so far”.

Expressing sadness, S R Srinivas said, “We worked together like family members. Kumaraswamy had taken care of me for 20 years. Revanna has also supported my development work and asked what I need for my constituency”.
