BENGALURU: After Sunday afternoon’s rain caused mayhem in the city, including claiming the lives of two people, Bengaluru can expect rain for the next three days.
According to the weather department, a trough is moving from the north-interior parts to the south-interior parts towards Tamil Nadu and will bring more rain. It is expected that Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Mysuru, Bengaluru and Chitradurga will experience heavy rain for three more days. Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts will witness rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, the Meteorological Department said.
Prasad, a meteorologist said, “The state is likely to witness rain for the next four days, especially in the south-interior region and Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the coastal region will receive heavy rain. North-interior Karnataka may not experience much rain. There will be light to moderate rain in the south-interior regions of the state and heavy rain in Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Mandya, Mysuru and Ramanagara. A yellow alert has been sounded for the districts. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph in some parts. In Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, rain is likely towards evening with thunder and lightning”.
“There is a weather system about 1.5 km above sea level in South Tamil Nadu. There is another trough from Vidharba region heading towards Tamil Nadu through Telangana and Rayalseema about 900 mts above sea level. This will bring rain”, he explained.
On Sunday, Rajmahal Guttahalli recorded 65.50 mm of rain, Kottigepalya 54 mm, Nagapura 45 mm, Nandini Layout, 48 mm, Pulakeshi Nagar, 44 mm, Rajajinagar 37 mm, KR Pura 36 mm in Bengaluru. In other parts, Kushalnagar in Kodagu district recorded 35 mm of rain.
