BENGALURU: Putting to rest any speculation about his tenure, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that he will complete a full term in office, while stating that he had never said that he will give up power midway.
In an exclusive interview with Public TV Chairman and Managing Director H R Ranganath, Siddaramaiah said that after completing his full term as CM, he will keep off electoral politics. He also said he was elected as the legislature party leader by the party MLAs and that the party high command had approved of it.
To a question on how he could quit midway after having been chosen as legislature party leader, Siddaramaiah said, “You are correct, I have told the people too, even during the election, I have said so and I have also told the people of my constituency that after my term is over, I will not get into electoral politics”.
“No, I have never said that I will give up the position. I have only said that after this term, I will not remain in electoral politics”, he emphasised.
To another question on the trust reposed in him by the party MLAs, Siddaramaiah said, “The MLAs elected me as CLP leader, and the high command approved it.
