CHIKKAMAGALUR: A controversy has erupted in Chikkamagaluru over the construction of an allegedly unauthorised dargah on government land. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has filed a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner, demanding that the structure be demolished.

The VHP alleges that the dargah is being constructed without permission on a public road and adjacent to a government building. It also claimed that the dargah is not mentioned in the Waqf gazette notification. The VHP has demanded immediate action against the unauthorized construction.
The VHP has demanded an investigation into who granted permission for the construction and why it was not stopped earlier. They also questioned why the city is being targeted while other cities with similar structures are not being taken action against.

The construction of the dargah is allegedly being carried out on a public road and land belonging to the Public Works Department. The Municipal Commissioner has ordered the demolition of the structure, but the Muslim community has obtained a stay from a court on the order.
