Entry of visitors prohibited at all seven waterfalls in Belagavi’s Khanapur taluk

BELAGAVI: The Belagavi district administration has barred public entry at all the seven waterfalls in Khanapur taluk. The move comes in the wake of groups of inebriated youths littering the place and creating nuisance.

Warning signs have been put near waterfalls.

The district administration also wants to prevent any loss of life while taking selfies or social media reels. Apart from Forest Department personnel, some gram panchayats have also deployed security guards to prevent entry of visitors. Alcohol bottles were also found near the waterfalls and youths indulge in nuisance, officials said.

Khanapur taluk has been receiving heavy rainfall over the last few days. All the seven waterfalls on the edge of the forest in the taluk incluidng Batawade Falls, Chikale Falls, Vajra Falls, have come alive. The Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Hiranyakeshi, Markandeya, Vedaganga, Dudhganga rivers are all full after the rains.
