BENGALURU: The entry fee for visitors at Bannerghatta Biological Park, a popular tourist destination on the outskirts of Bengaluru, has been hiked. The park has increased its ticket prices by 20 per cent effective August 1.
For adult, the ticket price has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 120, children from Rs 50 to Rs 60, senior citizens from Rs 60 to Rs 70. The safari combo pack prices have also been increased. Weekday prices have been increased from Rs 350 to Rs 370 and weekend prices have been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 420.
The price hike is attributed to the increasing costs of animal food, maintenance and staff salaries. Although the zoo authority had requested a 50 per cent price hike, the government approved a 20 per cent increase.
The Bannerghatta Biological Park is an autonomous institution, and ticket revenue is its primary source of income. However, the zoo ticket price has not been increased for the last five years. The new prices will come into effect from August 1, as per the zoo authority’s order.
The Executive Director of Bannerghatta Biological Park, Surya Sen, has confirmed the price hike and said, the price hike is essential and it is a self-sustaining organation. Probably the revised price is effective from August 1.
