CHAMARAJANAGAR: A tiger resting in a water body to beat the heat was chased away by an elephant at the Bandipur tiger safari. Visitors who had gone on a safari got the witness the unusual scene and the moment was also captured on camera.
In a video, the tiger is seen cooling off by the water’s edge when an elephant ambles by to drink water. On seeing the tiger in the water, the elephant suddenly charges at it, prompting the tiger to run away. The video has since gone viral on social media.
In an unrelated incident, three hunters were caught by the forest patrol staff after one of them was bitten by a snake in the Cauvery wildlife reserve. Two country-made guns, torches and machetes were seized from them and the victim was shifted to a hospital.
Selvanath, Vincent and Louis of Mariamangala village in Hanur taluk had ventured into the forest illegally to hunt deer. However, Selvanath was bitten by a snake and the trio came out of the forest when they were intercepted by a forest patrol. While Selvanath was hospitalised, the other two were sent to judicial custody.
