CHAMARAJANAGAR: A wild elephant broke the front windshield of a truck while trying to pull out stalks of sugarcane, near Asanur on National Highway-209 in Tamil Nadu. The truck was transporting sugarcane to the Bannari Amman sugar factory.
In a video shot by one of the occupants of the truck, the elephant can be seen approaching the vehicle and climbing on to the front portion of the truck to pull out sugarcane stalks. In the process, the elephant put one leg on the windscreen, causing it to crack.
The driver can be heard informing someone on the phone in Tamil that the truck windscreen was broken. Luckily, the occupants of the truck were unhurt. After pulling out some sugarcane stalks, the elephant backed off following which the truck moved away.
Meanwhile, a sick elephant was spotted in the Cauvery wildlife reserve at Galibore during routine patrolling by Forest department staff. The veterinarians administered treatment and the pachyderm is now recovering even as the Forest department staff are keeping any on it.
